The Deficit Facing Vulnerable Families In 2015 on Facebook, we founded Rice for Hunger out of a direct need to support the most vulnerable communities in Vietnam. Government assistance for low-income households and the elderly is devastatingly low, typically providing just $20 to $40 a month per family, or roughly $20 per child. Yet, the stark reality is that the average monthly cost of basic food expenses is $220 in rural areas and climbs to $270 in urban cities. This severe financial gap leaves thousands facing regular food insecurity.

Bridging the Gap, One Bag at a Time Because the number of families needing aid is vast, we made a strategic choice to focus our resources where they make the most immediate impact. We provide one substantial, high-quality bag of rice to each registered household every single month. By ensuring that families have their foundational daily staple completely covered for the entire month, we alleviate a massive portion of their monthly financial stress.

Our grassroots, 100% volunteer model ensures that every donation goes directly from our hands to theirs. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helps us keep these bowls filled.
